Sound of the Nation

The Story of Hip Hop brings two unlikely worlds together for one amazing show.

Fusing the music of the streets with the world of classical orchestration ‘The Story of Hip Hop’  will take you on a  journey through Hip Hop in eras – from its first original commercial hit in 1980 right up to the contemporary hits of 2017.

Every track in this show plays a unique and significant part in history of the genres development. From the worldwide number 1’s to the underground pioneers that paved the way.

Our centrepiece to this whole project is DJ Mo K

Mo K has been a hip hop DJ for over 16 years, with deep heritage in the genre and wide reaching respect.

During the performance, Mo K will be scratching and DJing live.

The Story of Hip Hop will be brought to life by the incredible RTÉ Concert Orchestra along with four of Ireland’s leading rappers and singers – Jess Kavanagh, Mango, Erica Cody and Jafaris.

The Story of Hip Hop will also be a feast for the eyes as well as the ears with a full visual production to accompany the live show.

And then,

2FM’s Jenny Greene, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra along with vocalist Gemma Sugrue, perform 90’s club classics live for the second year running.

Rhythm is a Dancer, Children, Not Over Yet, Everybody’s Free and Insomnia are just some of the classics heard from Jenny and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra when they toured the length and breadth of the country this year.

They return to Electric Picnic this year with what promises to be their best performance yet!
