Music reads

Banks on album 2

I’m SO excited about Banks’ album Altar, her 2nd LP, which is due on Sept 30. Goddess was a brilliant gloomy pop album and there’s every indication she’ll do something similar on album 2. Check out her recent chat with iD for more on the album (gorgeous photos too). This interview is also quite insightful.

Diana Gordon on Beyoncé, songwriting and more

Been playing Diana Gordon’s belter of a tune Woman a lot and her background on how she ended up writing for Beyoncé’s Lemonade album is fascinating. This recent Entertainment Weekly piece with her touches a lot on her fascinating musical journey.

Soulé talks new single

I’m properly obsessed with this new Irish talent. Love No More is such a banger. Check out this rather great interview with 2XM’s Tara Stewart about her music. And don’t miss the video for Love No More, it’s gorgeous:

Allie X on pop domination

I raved about the video for Allie X’s latest banger All The Rage on this site already this week! If you’d like some insight into the mind of this future pop superstar, this interview from last month with music site The 405 is a really great place to start.

Carly Rae is a critical darling

Been playing Carly Rae Jepsen quite a bit the last 2 weeks. This review of her new EP Emotion Side B from the New Yorker (!) is a good sum up of her new found cult pop fandom and critical acclaim. Take that music snobs!

Thanks for listening this week and for your feedback, I’ll see you on air from 8pm tomorrow night.
