Last night I had the honour of being one of the first people in this country to see Star Trek, the new movie from one Mr JJ Abrams (he of Lost, Fringe, Alias and Cloverfield fame) as he looks to re-invent the franchise (yeah I know, it's a hard life). I'll be doing a proper review closer to the release date and to be honest I think I need a bit of time to jot down my thoughts fully because I really can only think of one word to sum it up the morning after - PERFECT.
Yep, JJ didn't do a single thing wrong. It was everything I was hoping for and more. At the end, as that familar theme tune sounded out around the cinema my colleagues and I turned to each other and said: "umm, can we watch it again?". Yep, it was that good. We wanted to see it straight away, all over again. And better than that we wanted a sequel.
But let us not lose the run of ourselves; before we can even think about a sequel, we have to see how this first outing from Abrams' Star Trek 2.0 fares in the real world. I have to admit I'm a big Trek fan but I really think the cast is young and sexy enough, the special effects and stunts spectacular enough and the characters interesting enough for this franchise to earn a whole new generation of fans.

Keep checking back here for more news, views and yes even interviews with the Star Trek crew over the next week or so. Live long and prosper...
Amanda
