Belfast alt rockers who were among the 21 Eurosonic acts this year. Debut album  "Visiting hours of a travelling circus" earned them glowing reviews from Kerrang and Artrocker, which means they cover lots of bases. Listen and be amazed.

Les Marionettes were in for a session this week and out 80's retroed Dallas remakes, Marty Whelan's old mullet and Charlie Haughey revivals. Dara Munnis took some "big shoulder pads" type pics and here are  a few of them

Girl Band are:
Adam Faulkner - drums
Alan Duggan - guitar
Dara Kiely - vocals
Daniel Fox - bass
 
First off, there are no females in Girl  Band, but they do come from Dublin and only started at the end of the summer in 2011.

Their meteoric rise into the blogosphere has them tipped as one to watch in 2012, and some of the descriptions are as over the top as they are nonsensical  - from "like the kinda band who appear on Beavis & Butthead's tv screen" to "elements of classic shout-y hardcore and the two-chord slacker filth of early grunge"....Wouldn't you love to be that creative with words?

All you need to know is that they make a big dirty noise, and if you don't like it you're ....Enda Kenny!

The Dying Seconds are:

DAVID CANTAN - LEAD VOCALS

GARY DONALD - BASS, KEYS, VOCALS
CHARLIE KEEGAN - DRUMS
NAMOI MORIARTY - KEYS GLOCK, MELODICA, VOCALS
MARK ROONEY - KEYS, VOCALS
 
Originally a duo, formed in 2006  when David first met Jack , The Dying Seconds is now a fully-fledged band, comprised of 6 members most of whom seem to play anything. After their 2007 eponymously titled debut album as a stripped-back duo,  they discovered, however, that music is nothing if it hasn't got a soul.  So now they have 6 souls.

Their current album 'Glimmerers' has been mentioned in the same breath as acts like The National and Efterklang. Added to this, The National's Aaron Dessner described the album as "the ferocious coming out of a great new band, a stunningly beautiful and ambitious debut album."
