The Jades - Live set from Oxegen 09

IMG_0682.jpg

All members of The Jades come from Kilmuckridge in county Wexford and first met at primary school.
As Yvonne says, "We have been in a band together for what feels like forever at this stage! We learned our spellings together in primary school and formed the band after finishing our leaving certs. We have taken a year or two off in between the time to pursue college and other things, but hey!, what good relationship hasn't!"

Before the band came together, each member had built up considerable experience performing locally in musicals and shows, but The Jades was the first formal band any of them joined when they came together after finishing school.  They first came to public attention in Ireland through their colourful live shows and their appearances on the RTE series You're A Star.

"Edgy, daring and sparky, Dublin band Cap Pas Cap play a hugely alluring post-everything game. There has only been a handful of releases to date, but each one has seen them pulling new shapes from the bag. Their best moment to date was last year's hypnotic and spacey We Are Men single on the Skinny Wolves label, a pointer to the new-wave-no-wave-what-wave terrain they're calling their own. Cap Pas Cap's debut album should be one of this year's highlights."

Concerto for Constantine Live from Oxegen 09

concertforconstantine.jpg
Concerto for Constantine are three Dubliners: singer and guitarist Mark Greaney (formerly JJ72's frontman and songwriter), bassist Gavin Fox (formerly of Turn, Idlewild and Vega4), and drummer Binzer (formerly of The Frames, BellX1).
They got together in late August 2007 and began rehearsing. It was raw. It was visceral. And having enough gigs under their collective belt from over the past decade they knew immediately that it worked. Bones shivered, hearts beat faster and ears hurt. A beautiful thunder was born. As individuals, the experience and talent is impressive. As a band it is colossal. This is three men at the top of their game, playing the music that they have always wanted to play.

Well the Ting Tings have just finished up on the Main Stage with Katie declaring she's an Irish Power Ranger. We've also had loads of bad Irish accents, Katy Perry covering Don't Stop me Now and then covering girls in cheery chopstick, a half dressed Lady GaGa, a huge sing alone of Jump In The Pool with Friendly Fires, a punchy little set by The Foals, Starsailor covering Elvis tunes and there's still plenty more to come.

OXEGEN is now only 8 days away and as excitement reaches fever pitch, we're delighted to announce yet further fantastic additions to the 2009 line-up as well as the return of Heineken Greenspace.

Battle of the Bands winners Box Social and Seven Days complete the acts on The Hot Press New Bands Stage.

This year's line-up for The Dance Arena is already one of our strongest ever but now fans can also look forward to the myriad sounds of Evil 9, Gordo, DJ Philth, Bitches With Wolves, Louis Osbourne, Nialler 9 and Scott McNaughton.  Popular DJ Arveene plays The Red Bull Music Academy on Friday and rising Cork band Fred are confirmed for Heineken Green Spheres on Saturday.  The IMRO New Sounds Stage has also got further additions - Susie Soho, Prowler and Distractors.
