Breakfast with Hector 9th February 2012

Do you sleepwalk? Hector wanted to get to the bottom of why some people somnambulate (now there's a fancy word of the day!) and others don't!

Deirdre McSwiney, chief technologist at the Mater Private Sleep Lab explained the science of sleep to Hector and said that sleepwalking shouldn't be seen as normal. Sleep is an organised biological process that really runs itself and those people who sleepwalk are affected during REM (dream) sleep and occur in the first third of the night. Deirdre looks at the structure of the sleep of a sleepwalker in the Sleep Lab and studies whether or not there may be a more serious underlying issue. Ruthie Edgeworth from Prosperous in Co. Kildare has once again triumphed on Put Your Town on the Map taking on the elegantly named Ellen Metzger from Maheracloole in Monaghan! Ruthie's Prosperous fact was that in 1997 the movie I Went Down was shot in Prosperous while we found out from Ellen that Maheracloole was the biggest parish in Ulster. Sadly Ellen couldn't name five cartoons and Ruthie took the Guns'n'Roses tickets!

Day 4 of 'Trust your Gut' quiz and today's question was: People over 50 experience fewer worries and less stress than whippersnappers in their 20s - true or false? Grainne Reilly from Dublin 15 said it was true and bagged herself the daily prize of an All Bran hamper and a 50 euro spa voucher as well as going into the draw for the amazing prize of a super 10 Night Holiday to Koh Sumui in Thailand that happens tomorrow -- all thanks to All Bran and the new cereal All-Bran Golden Crunch!

The Deise dame Sarah Quinn beat 12 year old Cian Guare from Lucan in Class Act and won a family pass to the Wax museum!

And finally, It was a debate of whether Evelyn said Colin or Calvin Harris- she was sure she said Calvin but she didn't!!! All will be revealed tomorrow!

Evelyn's Word of the Day: Humdrum, which means lacking excitement or variety, dull or monotonous
