Breakfast with Hector 31st January 2012

Wearing pyjamas, eating a bowl of cornflakes and watching He-man, Top Cat, Mask or Raggy Dolls, depending on the decade of your childhood years-  the '70s, '80s and '90s - BWH remembered all classic cartoons this morning!

But first, Hector spoke to John Rice for How's the Country This Morning, who co-founded Jam Media, and Irish company responsible for the very excellent, modern classic, Roy. The Zzz were coming out of Roy's nose this morning, according to John, as he is just finishing the second series of the show! Roy was based on a film that Jam Media made called 'Badly Drawn Roy'  and is a mix of live-action and animation - Roy is not a normal looking child and has a lot of crosses to bear but ultimately, he's like any normal 11 year old boy. Meanwhile, John's classic cartoon character was Foghorn Leghorn, the fiesty loony tunes rooster! The new series of Roy will be out in September!

Karen fondly recalled her She-ra duvet and she thought it was the coolest thing ever! Yes, the Princess of Power was on her bed linen as a child - sadly she doesn't have it now!  But He-man and She-ra were not just exclusive to Ireland - Nealta told Hector that she was a big fan of the cartoon back in Zimbabwe - as well as an animated series featuring Baby Huey, a large duckling who has to fend off the advances of a marauding fox!

Seamus McCaul lost the Put Your Town on the Map champion title this morning to a very fine Cork woman, Tricia Carroll from Castlelyons, where Michael Flatley has his big chalet (he's in the pub sometimes in Ballyhooly!). Tricia is now in the draw for the VIP prize to go the IFTAs, and of course, she gets to Put Castlelyons on the Map tomorrow!

Scariff Fact of the Day: The 95/96 Clare Hurling team were trained by Scariff man Mike Mac!

Plus - Seamus's dad is a Navan man!

It's Tuesday and the midlands media mogul, Ronan Casey was in studio to bring us another edition of Medium Sized Town, Fairly Big Story. He revealed the dearest place to spend a penny, which is in Letterkenny (7euro and 42cents!); the news of the newspaper with nothing but good news, The Anglo Celt; and in the Fingal Independent the news of a man called Matt Murphy, an 85 year old, who welcomed his 100th member of his family - a new great, great, grandchild Alan. Matt has 11 children, 38 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren! Matt feels great but he's glad he doesn't have to buy Christmas presents for them all! Barry Kearns, one of the brothers from Bray, retains the title of Class Act champion having successfully defeated challenger Rachel Kellaghan from Edenderry in Offaly. The big bad man from Bray will pass the mantle on to brother Robbie tomorrow morning!

Evelyn's Word of the Day: Imperative, which means essential action, a must!

KHL until tomorrow!
