Irish acts ready to take on Europe at Eurosonic Noorderslag 2012
The focus on Ireland during the 26th edition of Eurosonic Noorderslag will feature 21 Irish acts, including promising new artists such as Wallis Bird, God is an Astronaut, Cashier No9., We Cut Corners, amongst others. Each year, the European music conference and showcase festival highlights one European country with a flourishing musical climate. In previous editions focus countries have been France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Norway and The Netherlands.
Irish focus during conference:
As part of the focus, subjects important for the Irish market, will be highlighted during the four day conference during the day. Several panelsfeature Irish artists managers, Irish festival and radio representatives and Irish journalists, that will share their knowledge on the Irish market and relation with other European countries. In addition there will be an Irish networking reception bringing together European live music professionals and Irish representatives.
EBBA Award for James Vincent McMorrow:
Furthermore, the Irish singer/songwriter James Vincent McMorrow is a winner of an European Border Breaker Award for the success of his album Early in the Morning. McMorrow and the nine other winners will receive their awards in a televised ceremony hosted by TV personality and musician Jools Holland at Eurosonic Noorderslag, on 11th January 2012. The ceremony - including performances by most of the winning acts - will be broadcast by Dutch National Television (NOS/NTR) and will also receive European coverage through TV channels and radio stations.

European Border Breakers Award (EBBA)
Dublin siner-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow was today announced as one of the winners of the European Border Breakers Awards. Last year, McMorrow was nominated to play at the Eurosonic show by RTÉ 2fm and this was a major factor in his making a breakthtrough into the Europe-wide live music circuit.

Hot on the heels of a major success at The Great Escape festival in the UK, Ireland is today announced as the country focus for Eurosonic Noorderslag 2012, one of the most important music events in Europe.
Eurosonic Noorderslag is Europe's main conference and showcase festival for European music. With 290 European acts performing in more than 40 venues and over 3,000 music professionals from all over Europe attending, Eurosonic Noorderslag is the ultimate place to be for music lovers and industry professionals.
Ireland and Irish bands have been making their mark at international showcases. The selection of Ireland as the spotlight country for Eurosonic Noorderslag 2012 is a real vote of confidence in the quality and range of Irish music currently available.
Music from Ireland, in partnership with Culture Ireland and IMRO, produce a number of Irish music showcases at events such as The Great Escape, South by Southwest and Canadian Music Week.
In the past few years Eurosonic Noorderslag focus countries have been France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Norway and The Netherlands. The Ireland focus will increase the number of Irish bands showcasing at Eurosonic Noorderslag and will also include panel discussions and guest speakers. Ireland at Eurosonic Noorderslag 2012 will be presented by Music from Ireland, in partnership with Culture Ireland and IMRO, and in association with RTÉ 2fm.
Eurosonic Noorderslag is an annual European music conference and showcase festival which takes place in Groningen [the Netherlands] each year. Eurosonic Noorderslag 2012 takes place from 11 - 14 January, 2012. Over 3000 delegates, 290 showcases and a conference programme with over 150 panels, Eurosonic Noorderslag is the key exchange and networking platform for European music.
