MOJO GOGO IN THE 2FM SESSION - MONDAY, NOV 28

Mojo GoGo.jpg
The Donegal lads were the winners of the North section of Play on the Day gigs run by 2fm and Hot Press to pick the bands to play on Arthur's Day 2011. Mojo GoGo formed in Derry in November 2010. In February 2011, they recorded 'The Rounce' EP. It was described as "Simple, clean, packed with fantastic, thick melodies and hooks" by Goldenplec with "hair standing choruses".
Having toured incessantly over the next few months, Mojo GoGo holed themselves up in their native Donegal to write for their next release. In July 2011, they recorded the 'Cheats, Chicks and Powders' EP with Frank Kearns of SALT Studios, Dublin. Having been mastered by Richard Dowling (Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney), the three-track digital download is a risky venture into an edgier, heavier sound for the band.

Shaun Mulrooney, A.K.A Admiral Black released his debut album 'Phantasmagoric' in Ireland this month. The founder member of Humanzi, hangs out in the darkest corners of Berlin, marrying krautrock and 60s garage influences, with scuzzy guitars, rattling drums and a growling vocal. On a visit back to Ireland to launch the album and play a few exciting live shows, we got Sean and band in to make some noise for Dan.

TARA MC CORMACK (VENGEANCE & THE PANTHER QUEEN) IN THE FIVE-TRACK SHUFFLE - WEDNESDAY, NOV 23:

Vengeance Tara.jpg

Vengeance and The Panther Queen are a Rock N Roll organism from the Earth city of Dublin, a city that is the tabernacle of civilization, and harbourer of the secrets that will preserve the human species.
Musically, they're somewhere between Guns 'n' Roses and Britney, or maybe between Judas Priest and The Ronettes, or perhaps the Misfits and Grace Jones...
Tonight's Five-Track Shuffle has been compiled by their vocalist Tara McCormack.

VERSECHORUSVERSE IN THE 2FM SESSION - MONDAY, NOV 7

VerseChorusVerse.jpg

VerseChorusVerse is the alias of Tony Wright who previously of PepperBook, Zombie Safari Park and the lesser known ASIWYFA. VerseChorusVerse was born out of a deep rooted desire to sing as Tony found that the mere act of expelling air aurally coupled with hitting idiosyncratic, in tune, musical notes seemed to release endorphins in a free and totally natural way that helped him to smile.

Having toured the world and achieved some success with his last band, the behemoth that is ASIWYFA, the fiercely energetic & instrumental nature of ASIWYFA coupled with their vast wall of sound led to Tony to explore just how to convey as much passion and intensity using only his voice and an acoustic guitar in a live setting.

Tony puts it another way: "I just wanted to get scared again, jumping off a cliff into the ocean is way more daring than jumping off a table. Unless that table happens to be on a cliff of course."

VerseChorusVerse is eager to be heard.
