AT LAST AN ATLAS IN THE 2FM SESSION - MONDAY JULY 26
At Last An Atlas.jpg
At Last An Atlas is the music of Greg O'Brien (The Hollows). Greg was born and lives in Dublin. Currently he writes and records music in the house where he grew up. He uses organs, live electronics, samplers, nylon string guitar, vocals, noises and field recordings to create his warm, dreamy sounding pop songs.

In 2009 Frances Downey joined the band signing both live and on the new album 'From Which We Were Raised'. This is an album which seamlessly mixes upbeat electronic pop songs and with a number of quieter moments and features vocals from Frances Downey whose voice beautifully compliments Greg's on a number of songs.

In October 2009, At Last An Atlas toured America, playing shows with many artists throughout California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington state. This tour offered Greg invaluable experience and insight. Greg has played consistently throughout the year, touring with English artist SJ Esau (Anticon Records) and Midori Hirano (Nobel). He has also played shows with artists such as James Blackshaw, Valerie Frances and Northstation amongst others.

PATRICK KELLEHER IN THE 2FM SESSION - MONDAY JULY 12

Patrick Kelleher.jpg

Patrick Kelleher is a Dublin-based musician, although he spent much of his childhood in the English town of Rugby.  Kelleher has been championed by BBC Radio 6's Stuart Maconie and of course Dan.  He has supported Chequerboard, David Kitt and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffitti to name a few.
On his debut album 'You Look Cold' his songs demonstrate a restless imagination that flits between diverse reference points. There are the emotionally charged pieces such as 'Coat to Wear' and 'Wintertime's Doll', the strangely euphoric whoops and hand claps of 'Finds You', the relentless psychedelic electro of 'He has to sleep sometime' and the woozy dreamlike hiss of 'Wonder' or at least that's what it says here.

Hello Moon used to be called The Tender Trap they changed their name because none of their songs were about a girl with a candy-coated proclivity. They formed in May 2009 after the dissolution of several other bands, Eamon, Alan and Alan had played together for years joined sporadically by numerous other musicians. Alan took over duties on vocals and drums, Eamon and the other Alan shared the tasks of playing bass, guitar and keyboards. Robert Forster said "Never follow an artist who describes his or her work as 'dark'." The lads agreed with this and locked the door of the shed and wrote loads of songs that were jangly, melodic and tuneful.

Pretty soon they arrived at the attention Anyothercity records who remarked in an email that "they were a postcard records brain melt of loveliness" - they felt greatly enamoured by this comment and the other artists the label were promoting and wanted to be part of it. Robert Forster also said "The three-piece band is the purest form of rock and roll expression" despite this they invited Amanda over to the shed to play with them. They suspected that Santa or the baby Jesus delivered her to them as a Christmas present.

In January 2010 The Tender Trap contributed their song 'Three More Inches' to the AOC EP, their effort received favourable reviews from the Irish music press. They now continue as a four piece under their new moniker Hello Moon and hope to have an album recorded early in the year for release on AOC in summer 2010.
