GIVEAMANAKICK ARE SPLITTING UP... WHAT A SHAME

Giveamanakick.jpg

They announced it last week, but I only spotted in earlier today - Giveamanakick are splitting up. Without question GAMAK have been one of the most exciting domestic acts that I've heard in a long time. Some bands posture and bluff, but GAMAK never needed to, as they always had the songs and style to outshine just about everyone else.
Since I started doing my show on 2fm, they've been a regular fixture between midnight and 2. A couple of years ago they (alongside Messiah J & The Expert and The Flaws) teamed up for the 2fm 2moro 2our, and toured the country - great times, and I got to see what a live force they had become.
Best of luck Steve and Keith, and don't be shy if you ever want to reform any time soon!

I PHOENIX IN SESSION - MON, AUG 24

I Phoenix.jpg

I Phoenix are being hailed as one of the best and most innovative new alternative rock bands in Ireland. Following a string of successful gigs around the country and with the help of free cds available at every show the band now have a wide band of eager fans. Three guys and a Roland SPD-S; I Phoenix make a big impression with their signature sound. A mix of melodic vocals, big rock riffs, killer synth sounds, backed by hard hitting drums and a steady bass beat, I Phoenix is the band to see in 2009. ((Guitar + Drums)/Bass)*Vocals = Music........................all you need is a calculator....

OFFSHORE IN THE 2fm SESSION - THURS AUG 6

Offshore.jpg

Starting in 2003 Offshore's line up was slowly but surely put together through a web of school friends, work mates and other bands until the present five piece line up was formed in 2005 and based in the Dublin suburb of Swords.
After two years of seemingly endless writing, and quietly chipping away at the Dublin Live scene the quintet received their first nod of approval with a slot at the respected Hard Working Class Heroes Festival 2007.
Having played the 2fm New Bands Stage at Oxegen in July 08, Offshore entered the studio to record their first offering, the Double A-Side Single containing the tracks 'Small Fires' and 'Balcony Waves'. It was released on February 5th to a packed launch night at Dublin's Crawdaddy.
Currently Offshore are in the midst of recording a follow up collection of songs.
