Waterford's Black Robots draw on a strong, raw punk ethic, drawing influence from a slew of bands like Sonic Youth, Death From Above, Wavves and Autolux to name but a few.

Having already played with bands such as Katie Kim, Neosupervital and Tricky as well as playing the Working Class Heroes Festival in Dublin, The Coors Light Peak festival as well as the legendary The Hope and Anchor venue in London. Black Robots have truly found their live feet. Sarah's primal beats drive the songs and Dean's raw guitar style is straight and to the pointless and serves as a carrier for the melody.

The Holy Roman Army are Chris and Laura Coffey, a brother and sister from Co. Carlow who offer up their own distinctive brand of loop-laden electronica. Having spent their teenage years messing around at home with Casio keyboards and tape recorders, they started writing music together again in late 2007 when Chris found himself with a load of self-produced, half-finished beats and soundscapes, and sorely in need of inspiration. The introduction of Laura's ethereal vocals and guitar provided a more melodic influence and offered an intriguing counterpoint to Chris' dense synth-and-sample-heavy tracks.

Their self-released debut album 'How The Light Gets In' is a distillation of their idiosyncratic musical tastes, fusing glitchy laptop beats with melodic sensibilities and referencing acts as diverse as DJ Shadow, The Notwist, Portishead and Mum. From the hushed ambience of opening track 'Berlin' to the dubby 'Lastwood' and electronic pop of 'Neon In Our Dreams', the album covers a broad terrain of musical influences over its eleven tracks. The album was released to considerable critical acclaim in June 2009.

CRAIG WALKER IN THE 2fm SESSION - MON, DEC 14

Craig Walker arrived on the Irish music scene in the late eighties with his Dublin-based band Power of Dreams.  In 2000 Craig joined the progressive electronica band, Archive and released four albums on East-West France to growing popularity and critical acclaim.

Expanding his range of artistic achievement, Craig moved on to work with various composers including Nathaniel Mechaly, Michael Nyman and Nicolas Errera.  He has played with an eclectic assortment of talent including The Athens band Transistor, the French house producer Demon, Nick Muire of Bedrock, Juini Booth of The Sun Ra Arkestra, Grand Popo Football Club, and 'The Fitzcarraldo Sessions'.

'Siamese' is Craig's newly released debut solo album, which was produced by and co-written with Bardi Johansson in Reykjavik, Iceland. The album has been released to glowing reviews in France, Belgium and Switzerland.  Further releases are planned and tour scheduling is under way.

Later this month, My Bloody Valentine will become the first Irish band to curate the prestigious All Tomorrow's Parties festival 'A Nightmare Before Christmas'. The Wounded Knees have been selected to perform at the festival.

Rodrigo y Gabriela released their new studio album, entitled '11:11' in September. '11:11' was recorded in Ixtapa, Mexico and   produced by Rodrigo y Gabriela, with John Leckie co-producing one of the tracks.
The album is the long awaited follow up to 2006's 'Rodrigo y Gabriela', which has so far enjoyed worldwide sales in excess of half a million albums. Comprising 11 new self-written compositions, '11:11' is Rod & Gab's personal 'Gracias' to a first XI of musicians, both past and present, who have inspired them along the way. Alex Skolnick of metal gods Testament guests on the album, as do widely respected acoustic veterans Strunz & Farah.
