WORLD ANIMAL WEEK
To celebrate the launch of World Animal Week 2009, RTE have teamed up with Pedigree and Whiskas to find Ireland's Best Loved Dog and Cat. The finalists have been chosen and you can log on to vote for your Best Loved Dog before 6pm on Thursday October 1st AND Pedigree and Whiskas will donate a meal to SPCAs across Ireland for every single one of your votes.

The overall winner gets a fabulous package worth €3000 while the seven remaining runners-up get a three month supply of Pedigree foods and a voucher for Mutt Ugly.

YOUR QUIRKY DOGS
Because of World Animal Week and the quest to find Ireland's Best Loved Dog, we're going Pet Crazy all this week on the Breakfast Show. Today we asked you to tell us the mad quirky weird things your pets do and your texts came pouring in, many of which made us laugh out loud. I had a gorgeous German Shepherd Zara, RIP. She used to throw a bit of a strop when she got left out of stuff. I went on holiday with my bf. She got thick and chewed half the bumper off my new car. Val
Our dog Shakespeare got his head stuck in a whole in a shed wall in an attempt 2 get @ our cat piggy. When all liberation endeavours (Vaseline + fairy liquid) failed we had 2 call in the professionals. The vet sedated our poor pooch + the local builder used his kango hammer 2 basically dig him out of the wall. When Shakespeare came 2, he was covered in Vaseline fairy liquid + cement. Hi i had a dog named Snowy aka Carpet he used to play rounders and other sports with us. The kids on the road used to knock for him to come out to play and he used to knock at the door to come into the house if had and enjoyable 15 years
