ON THE SHOW

In the papers today it was announced that Ryanair misplaces less than 0.3 bags out of every 1000, significantly less than that of it main competitor Aer Lingus.  Colm invited listeners to tell their stories of missing luggage.  Did they get it back the next day?  Did it take a few months?  Did they ever see it again?

Aisling recently flew back to Knock Airport from Faro, Portugal.  Not only did her son's case go missing with all of his clothes, his disability buggy was damaged in transit and Aisling ended up forking out €750 to have it repaired.  She's waiting on Ryanair to refund the money.

A few years ago Geraldine and her husband flew with KLM to Kilmanjaro for a climing expedition.  When they went to the KLM service desk they issued Geraldine and her husband with $50 and located the missing bags in London.  The next morning a hotel porter arrived up the mountain with their bags.  Sometimes there is a happy ending.

lost-luggage_94043t.jpgYesterday in the UK a naturist went on trial for causing 'harrassment, alarm and distress' to his neighbours because he does his gardening in the nude.  This prompted Colm to ask his listeners about the neighbours we have.  Do we love them or hate them?  Do we even know their names?

Andy, whose neighbour we'll call the Mr Jones, put a slabbed path along his garden to make access to the washing line a little bit easier.  Mr Jones then proceeded to climb the fence to state Andy was jealous of the Joneses garden and that the paint job on Andy's house brings down the tone of the estate.

Then there's Helen who has 14 cats as her neighbours.  They keep her awake at night scratching themselves and banging off her windows.  They have her dog driven demented.  The owner of the cats doesn't even live there but visits each day bringing in new strays.  When Helen called the ISPCA, they laughed about it.

_49054484_nakedgardener.gifA few weeks ago Des got in contact with us wanting to change his name to Irish in a less permanent fashion than by deedpoll.  After living in the UK for 20 years he returned to Ireland and took a liking to Irish.  He found it impossible to do.  When he tried to open a bank account with his new Irish name, they wanted a utility bill.  Any of the utility companies wanted a Passport with his Irish name and Des found himself going around in circles.

titleEN_gaeilge.gifAndrew McCann featured today also, discussing employment rights.

And out of the blue, Colm talked to Breda who had her birthday yesterday.  To celebrate, Breda went to have tea and cakes in no other than Fr Ted's house which is in North Clare and had a gret time.
