HOT TO TROT FOR SUMMER

I'm a sucker for a good bargain and given the fab weather we've had lately, it's definitely time to check out what the highstreet has to offer your tooties while keeping your credit card limit in check. Once again Penneys, Heatons & Tesco are ahead of the highstreet pack when it comes to great value for money and stylish on trend designs.

Our footwear crush today is The Hills Lauren Conrad who's casual chic look always hits the right note. Here's some LC inspired foot candy all for less than €25...click here to see more, prices etc

THE FACE OF ROCKSTAR TAN AUDITIONS

Anyone who was on Dublin's Henry St on Saturday could not have helped but notice the queue of gorgeous gals lining up on the red carpet outside Arnotts. Some of the country's most natural, stylish & gorgeous undiscovered beauties from all parts of Ireland (many getting up at 4am to travel from Cork, Kerry, Galway, Donegal etc) were out in force to audition for the Be The Face Of Rockstar Tan competition.

I was asked to be part of the judging panel alongside Xpose's Karen Koster, Trish Fallon of 1st Options Model agency, Top photographer Lili Forberg and Rockstar Tan Founder (and actress!) Rachel Kavanagh. To say the turnout was better than expected is an understatement.

Auditions were supposed to finish at 4pm but we didn't wrap until closer to 6pm but it was well worth it. Lili was taking snaps of some of the girls, here's a peek - click here to see pics

STUDS GALORE!

Studs are everywhere at the moment - heels, clogs, blazers, tops, dresses and of course handbags. If you have the money highend brands such as Gucci, DVF and Prada all have a good selection of studded bags but it's on the highstreet where the best value and boldest designs are to be found. Studs are great for adding a bit of edge and texture to an otherwise sweet look, think your floral maxi dress with one of these studded numbers!

RACING UP THE STYLE STAKES

Racing season is well upon us and with just a week to go to this years Punchestown Racing Festival we thought some winning style tips could come in handy (especially as the prize fund this year is an impressive €20,000!). Who better to give us some pointers than a lady who is a regular among the most stylish at the races, Director of Fashion and Beauty at Arnotts, Deirdre Devaney. So if you're hoping to pip everyone at the post in the style stakes, here's Deirdre's advice:

#1: The most important criteria is style. A woman must look confident and comfortable in what she's wearing and understanding the cut and colour that works for you is key.

#2: Originality is important, attention to fashion trends and, of course, the outfit must also be appropriate to the event. Click here to read more

RETURN OF THE MAC

The mac has been around for what seems like forever, and with very good reason. It's the perfect option to transition your wardrobe from spring to summer, smart enough to wear to work but also ideal for a more relaxed look at the weekend.

The supercoat we know today started life as a raincoat and was first sold in 1824. Thankfully, things have come a long way with everyone from Hermes to Dunnes Stores offering their take on this wardrobe must-have. Fit is essential when choosing a mac. GIVE UP CLOTHES FOR GOOD CAMPAIGN

GIVE UP CLOTHES FOR GOOD CAMPAIGN

Last week I received a lovely request asking if I'd like to support the Enable Ireland 'Give up Clothes for Good' campaign. As a firm believer that "one girl's trash is another girl's treasure" I was of course more than delighted to get involved. Quite simply all I had to do was dress a mannequin in an outfit I would like to donate.

In a nutshell the campaign is a nationwide clothes collection in conjunction with TK Maxx. Shoppers are asked to donate any fabulous fashion finds from their wardrobes that are in good repair and no longer used. Each piece donated will be passed on to Enable Ireland and go towards supporting people with disabilities. Below is the result of my endeavours. I went for a slightly board-boy look. DOUBLE DENIM

Darren Kennedy.jpg
DOUBLE DENIM
Recently at a gathering in my family home I stumbled upon some photo albums that I hadn't seen in years. Needless to say there were plenty of cringe-worthy 'get-ups' from decades past but one particular picture stood out. Decked out completely from head to toe in denim, there I was, 13 years old, looking quite happy with myself.

In retrospect to say my look was overbearing is an understatement. I wouldn't mind the clothes weren't even my own. I'd raided my brothers wardrobe, who's five years my senior, and 'borrowed' (without permission of course) one of his newest pairs of Levi's 501, matching denim shirt, denim jacket and doused myself in Dior Fahrenheit (also his!).

At the time I'm sure I looked pretty stylish - at least that's what I'm telling myself! The cyclical nature of fashion (no matter how bad the photos are from the first time round) inevitably means most styles from past decades enjoy a revival in one form or another. Towards the end of '09 the denim shirt made a revival and this spring summer it's the turn of double denim - wearing two items of denim in one outfit - last seen in the early 90's. CATWALK MAKEUP LOOKS FOR REAL WOMEN

Darren Kennedy.jpg

By Top International Makeup Artist Ciara O'Shea

Fluffy brushes, soft textures and colours are the best way to achieve the catwalk trends this season. Invest in the latest textures and technologies and bring your make up bag right up-to-date.

Skin is the most important - we saw lots of raw naked skin, which means its time to get your skincare working overtime. I am loving NUDE Skincare for its "Advanced Smoothing Complex" and its "Miracle Mask". Both godsends and both products you can add in to your routine without having to totally overhaul it. Try switching your foundation to a lighter formula (the same way you change your wardrobe from winter coats to summer jackets). I love Ellis Faas for her silky smooth radiant Skin Veil pens. They give the right amount of invisible coverage. I use the concealer strategically, in areas prone to redness, normally this is through the middle panel of the face, i.e the nose, middle of the chin, under eyes, centre of the forehead. The application should be little and light. Other products that work well for this are Dior's Skinflash or Bourjois's purse friendly Illuminating Touch (€9.99). Click here to continue reading...
